Judy's Last MLTC Snippets!
My dear Friends
As a tear trickles down my cheek, I will attempt to put into words my final Snippets - not easy!
I'm still totally overwhelmed by the "Goodbye to Judy" gathering yesterday...the pure love and affection was palpable amongst those present.
As I retire from what must be one of the most fulfilling jobs at any tennis club, I reflect on three decades of sharing time with so many special people. I think we can all admit that our tennis club has all the attributes of a unique club, with so many members contributing to the various committees to keep the club ticking over so successfully. I think friendship is the word that stands out when talking of MLTC. It's so easy to make friends for life here. We are also very much at the top of the league when mentioning the standard of tennis played here - with current members achieving International status and National titles..and all showing great loyalty to Monkstown.
On a personal level, my life has been interlinked with Monkstown for over 6 decades!....meeting the 'love of my life' (??!!) here when I was 12! Our 4 kiddies had a wonderful childhood here and are still loyal to the club...and now 6 Grandchildren enjoying the various activities at their disposal.
I could go on forever, but just a special thank you to all the Presidents, Captains and Committees who I had the privilege to work with...but I have to say the last couple of weeks - culminating in yesterday’s unique event will live in my heart for a long time to come...those words that were so meaningfully put together - be it by card - letter or text - were quite mind blowing. I will indeed acknowledge each and every one when my emotions settle down again!
It just leaves me to welcome my successor, Anne Crossan, and wish her all the very best as she takes over the 'Hot Seat' on Monday! I know Anne will have the best interest of Monkstown at heart in all her dealings with you, the members.
Well that's it........Slan leat - Au revoir - Adios - Good Bye!
With affection
Judy
