SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS TOURNAMENT

* The tournament starts on Friday 11th August and will conclude on 26th August with the “At Home” Gala Evening in the Royal Marine Hotel- bookings now open on EasyPayments.
* NON AVAILABILITY RULES - these will be strictly adhered to.
* All non-availability must be declared on the online entry form
* Matches will be played weekday evenings from 6pm and during the
day over the weekends 12th/13th and 19th/20th August.
* Each player, or doubles pairing, MAY ONLY HAVE 2 DAYS
UNAVAILABILITY from Friday the 11th of August to Sunday 20th August (please
check your combined availability with your playing partner)
* All players must be FULLY AVAILABLE FROM Monday 21st to Saturday

Please take note of the unavailability rules above which will be strictly adhered to. If we have the same bumper entry as last year, we will have circa 300 matches to schedule over the two weeks which is quite a challenge with only 6 courts. Your assistance is much appreciated.

- It’s time to polish up the trophies and bring them back to the club for the 2023 Champions. - Please ensure that you have engraved your trophy and drop back into the office anytime during the first week of the championships

Senior Championship prize-giving & drinks reception @ 7pm,
followed by a 3 course dinner and dancing to the Mamma Mia Girls.
DJ and bar-extension until 1.30am.

Club Café
Many thanks to all the ladies and gents who helped out at the Handicaps Café last month! Due to your enthusiasm and superb sales skills, profits from the café paid for the DJ at the summer BBQ and will cover the reception at the MLTC Championships Tournament Prize-Giving on August 26th
We now plan to run a Championships Café for the benefit of both players and supporters from Monday August 14th until Friday August 26th. We need two or three volunteers to help out each evening and would really appreciate your support. If you can spare a few hours on one of the evenings, please text Carole Curtin on 087 908 1963 or put your name on the sign-up sheet on the club noticeboard. It's great fun and not very hard work at all!
MEN’S MORNING
Men’s morning will be on at the usual time of 10am til 12noon this Sunday
CLUB NITE
Our very popular club nite social tennis will be on tonight. Do come along any time between 8pm and 10pm. Stephen will kick things off with some coaching for those interested!
JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS TOURNAMENT

This years Junior Championship Tournament will run from Monday 14th August to Saturday 19th August.

Online Entry and Rules, 2023
1. Only online entries will be accepted using your Tennis Ireland Pin.
2. Players can enter a maximum of 3 events (singles, doubles, mixed) except under 10s who can enter 2 events as no mixed doubles in their age group.
3. Players can ONLY ENTER IN THEIR OWN AGE GROUP. There is one exception to this – the u16s Doubles can play up to u18s Doubles as there is no doubles in their age group.
4. Minimum age is 8. Players must be born on or before 1st January 2015 to be eligible.
5. When entering doubles you do not need your partners Pin, only their name.
6. Availability – Juniors not fully available for the duration of the tournament may only enter one event which must be singles. Only exceptional unavailability requests will be considered.
7. Kids playing in Fitzwilliam will be accommodated once I am advised of their unavailability. As part of online entry you are asked to fill in any unavailability.
8. You must be available for finals day but please note that the finals of the mixed doubles will be on the Friday 19th along with singles plate events.
9. All matches will consist of 2 tie break sets. A championship tie break will operate if the score is 1 set all.
10. Order of play will be on Tournament Software and posted on the club windows. Juniors should check this daily at https://ti.tournamentsoftware.com/tournament/4CD21849-58DC-4950-9B84-8D3CBA6A2390
11. Players must provide their own tennis balls. Note under 10s will play full court with midi (Green) balls.

JUNIOR SUMMER – CAMPS AND SUPERVISION – Book in now
Please note there will be NO Supervision on Bank Holiday Monday,
apart from that Summer Supervision continues!
Payment options are available on Easy Payments and apply to all children from 7 to 15 years of age.
There are some places left for the upcoming Junior Tennis Camps available throughout the summer – Booking now open on Easy Payments!
UPDATE FROM STEPHEN
This week big congratulations must go to young Richie Kennedy who won the U/10 Singles Title at the Junior Close Championships played in Rushbrooke last week.. augers for a good future Richie! Rosie was pipped in the Final of the U/14 Girls doubles & Mixed doubles..still a great performance.
The Clontarf Open is the venue this week with Zoe Craig playing her Semi Final U/14 singles tomorrow & Charlie Carney playing the 1/4 Final of the U/12 singles today....great performances!...very best of luck to you both.
Next week the Donnybrook Junior Open is on...Good Luck Charlie & Michael Carney - Zoe & Harry Craig - Rosie, Robyn, & Richie Kennedy - and Mary & Luke O'Callaghan. Keep the Monkstown flag flying.
We wish Conor (Gannon) all the very best as he heads back to college in the States today to continue the super progress he's making with his tennis career.
Another word of congratulations must go to Sarah Healy, who won a fantastic 1,500m race at the Irish Athletics Championships last weekend.
We sure are proud of you Sarah!
