President's Update: COVID-19 Restrictions
Dear Members,
Preparations are well underway for the reopening of our Club on Monday next. As part of Phase 1, the Executive Committee will be following Government guidelines, in addition to those from Tennis Ireland (see links below) and Leinster Tennis to enable a safe return to play in our Club.
It is very important that members read our MLTC Rules and agree to abide by them before booking a court. This is in the interest of the health of all our members and their families and will allow us to set up contact tracing as required. We expect that there will be a high demand for the courts so we would ask members to be mindful of this during this initial three-week period. Court bookings can be made from Thursday, May 14th.
We have set out new MLTC Rules, effective May 18th. Here are some key points to note:
Government recommendations will take precedence over any Tennis Ireland or MLTC rules.
The current Government recommendation is that over 70s should not interact with other people when exercising, so we kindly ask them not to return to the Club at this time.
Travelling to play tennis is not regarded as an essential journey, therefore members living over 5km from the Club should not play at this time.
The Clubhouse will remain closed. There will be no parking inside the Club gates and no access to toilets.
Singles games only are permitted. However, there are specific Guidelines for restricted Doubles play. See Rules.
All games and coaching must be pre-booked and names of all players to be recorded (including any parent supervising an Under 18). See Rules.
No ‘drop-in’ games or coaching will be allowed, irrespective of court availability.
Games will last 50 minutes.
Members of the Executive Committee will visit the Club regularly to monitor the Rules which we will review on an ongoing basis.
Jacqui McCabe has kindly volunteered to be our COVID-19 officer. Please contact her if you have any questions or concerns. Judy O’Shea can be contacted for any general queries.
We would like to point out that we are all in this together and unless we comply with the public health advice, the Committee would be left with no choice but to close the Club again. It’s up to each member to help us avoid that!
Yours sincerely
Susie Kennelly
