Snippets 22/10/20

Hi Folks!

It's with a heavy heart and a tear in my eye that I compose these Snippets.

Looking out on the empty courts - blue skies and beautiful surroundings it really is most upsetting that the club has been closed. Personally I'll miss seeing so many people - young and old - get such pleasure from a game of tennis..always with smiling faces and adhering to all the guidelines.

Tennis Ireland certainly did their best to lobby for clubs to stay open....and hopefully the situation will be reviewed after 3/4 weeks.

So sad to learn during the week of the passing of our dear former family member Jim Mercer.

Jim was a true gentleman and will now be sharing many  stories of happy times in MLTC with his friend Colm (Maguire) Our deepest sympathies to Hazel and their family Roy, Claire & his beloved Grandchildren. May his gentle soul Rest in Peace.

Exciting times in the O'Rourke household where Sean & Caroline have become Grandparents for the first time with the arrival of baby Saoirse, born to Aisling and Dan in the States. An adorable niece for Aunty Maeve - Uncle Kevin - Uncle Declan - Uncle Sean & Uncle Fergus! Congrats all round...a very special time indeed.

More accolades for Garry!!  Last Saturday he was named Players' Player of the year 2020 by his fellow players at the Zurich Irish Rugby Players Awards ceremony. Congrats Garry & good luck on Saturday against Italy.   What an awful injury Jordan Larmour - a frequent visitor to our club - suffered last week...out of action for 16 weeks...so tough.

That's it for now....will keep in touch even if there's very little to report!

Don't forget to put those clocks back an hour on Sat...more doom & gloom!

Do take care of yourselves and make that extra call to anyone you might think would appreciate it.

Warm  regards

           Judy
