Snippets 26/03/20
Hi Folks!
I hesitated to write a Snippets this week, but I'm sure you'd still like to feel connected to your favourite tennis club!
Despite the uneasy situation we all find ourselves in, there is a certain calmness about the place... helped in no small way by the beautiful run of weather we're having...I find people are so willing to be helpful while exchanging a smile or two.
Welcome home to Johnny & Deirdre (Hornshaw) who landed safely only today from Peru... having spent a few anxious days of uncertainty.
Frank & Ger (Kane) are also home safely from Hawaii where they attended the wedding of their son Eoin & his Australian love Alyssa...doubt if we'll see you gracing the courts in Monkstown LTC again Eoin! Many congratulations to you both as you start your married life in Australia.
Congratulations to Terry & Jane O'Rourke on the arrival of their Grandson Sam, born to Nigel & Orla.
Also Congratulations to Brendan & Mary Mc Loughlin on the birth of their Grandson Tadgh, born to Suzanne & Barry...lovely distraction from the current situation.
Don't forget to put your clocks FORWARD an hour this Saturday night...more brightness next week TG.
Finally, although the Club is closed right now, you can still keep sharp and practice your skills at home. Our Head Coach, Stephen, will be posting videos on You Tube to help hone your tennis skills from the comfort of your own home. The first video can be accessed by copying & pasting this link into your browser - www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFYqUpJ1hSo
To enjoy the best quality from that video you should watch it on a laptop or iPad. Keep an eye on the Club's website for more videos. Stephen will post more video links on the MLTC website in the coming days.
Remember at 8pm tonight, come to your front door and applaud the wonderful health care workers who are totally devoted to the welfare of those suffering with the virus.
That's it folks - when you've finished reading this just give a call or text someone who you know will feel the better for it.
Warm regards and do take care & stay safe
