JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS TOURNAMENT

A big Thank You to the 90 Juniors that participated in the Junior Championships last week and also to their parents for their support.

Thank you to everyone who assisted me during the week in every way and particularly to Anne Tweedy for the software support and Lucy Schwer who was fantastic ensuring a smooth running of the successful tournament.

Tennis was played to a high level all week and most importantly very sportingly with the kids having great respect for each other.   Imagine - we had 90 entrants in 28 events playing over 2,200 games in 6 days!!

JUNIOR SUPERVISION

UPDATE FROM STEPHEN

Junior Finals Day proved a fitting end to a great summer for our Juniors.  The standard of tennis & competitiveness from the U/10's to the U/18's was of a very high level - & most notably played in a very sporting manner. Thanks to all the parents who came down to support on the day - Parent's involvement is so important for the progress of the kids.

The Senior Championships are moving along nicely - with Finals Day on Saturday next.....again the Juniors who entered are making their mark & keeping us 'mature' players on our toes!  The atmosphere each evening has made for some great matches - so make sure you pop down over the next two evenings and on Finals Day.

The "2 Sarahs"  have been making their mark this week at the highest level of their respective sport.   Sarah Healy ran a fantastic semi final heat in the 1500m at the World Athletic Championships in Budapest...smashing the 4 minute barrier for the first time. A brilliant achievement. Sarah is now rated 14th in the World - a phenomenal rating for a 22 year old and augurs well for the Olympics in Paris next year.  Well done Sarah.

Sarah McAuley is playing  in the Euro Hockey Championships in Monchengladbach this week.  A big game for her today as the team take on Spain, in a 5th place playoff...their best finish in a Euro Hockey event. Very best of luck Sarah.

Big day tomorrow for our Leaving Cert students when they get their results.  You're a great crew, so no doubt you'll all get what you hope for.

Finally, young Richie Kennedy has won the title of National U/10 Tour Champion for 2023 played in DCU last weekend. A super achievement Richie - all that practice is paying off...Well done.

Don't forget to sign up for the new Coaching Term.
