Club Notices

What a challenging Sunday for all the winter league teams as they played through some horrendous wind and rain. There are some games yet to be played due to unplayable conditions in clubs. All that being said we saw some great results for both the ladies and men’s teams and we hope as we reach the final Sunday that we will have a number of teams qualify for the playoffs.

We were all very sad to hear of the passing of Bernadette Colgan last weekend. Bernie had a great love of tennis and was a member of MLTC for many years, playing in the ladies morning and other events with her many friends. We extend our sympathies to all Bernie’s family and especially to her daughter former President Geraldine Spear. Bernie was our next-door neighbour and it was she who initially encouraged us to join MLTC and how appreciative we will always be of that good advice!

Matchplay

Last Saturday afternoon we welcomed the Under 9 Matchplay series to Monkstown. It was great to see some of our own young members participate in this event and well done to all those who entered. We were very lucky that the winds subsided a little on Saturday afternoon which allowed the event to go ahead!  A big thanks and well done to Stephen who organised the event.

Subs

We would appreciate if any outstanding subs could be paid via Easy Payments as soon as possible. Please contact Anne Crossan in the office if you have any queries regarding the payment method.

Booking of Courts

We ask members if they could please cancel their courts if they don’t plan to use the court they have booked. We all have times where something comes up and we need to cancel a court, but if it could be done with as much notice as possible, especially during busy periods, it will give others a chance to book. There is a “Watch” facility on court booking which enables members to be notified if a cancelled court becomes available.

Junior Committee

Thank you to all those who have volunteered to be on the Junior Committee.  Details of contact names for those looking after the various age groups together with information on junior box matches is available on the Junior Noticeboard.

Winter League update

Well done to the Ladies’ and Men’s teams who battled the elements last Sunday and turned in some very strong performances.   A number of our teams are now in the running to get through to the Play Offs, with everything to play for this weekend.  The Men’s 1st team will be in Naas on Sunday, but the Men’s 2nd team is playing at home against Railway Union at 11am and the Ladies’ 1st team is playing at home against David Lloyd Riverview at 2pm.   If you have some free time, please come down to support.  Best of luck to all our teams. Clodagh & Craig

Men’s Morning

Courts 2 and 3 will be available on Sun 27th from 9am – 11am.

Easter Cup

Hard luck to the men last Saturday who lost 2 / 1 to Bray!

This Saturday courts, 4, 5, and 6 are being used for the Easter Cup from 11am – 1pm so again there is limited court availability in the morning.

Ladies Charity League

This league will commence on Monday 28th Feb and all the teams are now listed on the notice board.

Ladies Morning Tennis

The Spring Social Tennis Morning will commence next wed 2nd March and will run for 6 weeks.  Lady members can enjoy a game of tennis, followed by a coffee, cake, and a chat at 10am on Wednesday mornings. Volunteers are needed to run each morning so please do sign up for one Wednesday. This is the best way to get to know other ladies and to commence weekly tennis games - so do add your name to the list on the notice board.

Club Night

Club night tonight will be hosted by Isabella Davison . Do come along and Stephen will give some coaching support at the beginning of the evening. We need more volunteers to host a club night – please put your name on the Rota in the function room or contact Isabella.

Hope you all have a good weekend

Denise
