Club Notices

This week has brought some great winter league results so well done to all the teams and good luck to the ladies and men’s teams who have reached the playoffs. With Winter, Easter Cup, Charity, Junior Leagues all being played at the moment we are aware that there are times where there is limited court availability. To assist members we have a weekly schedule on the notice board advising of court availability and we will upload this onto the website to ensure members are aware of when courts can be booked for regular games.

Winter League update

Ladies Teams

Well done to all the ladies playing winter league, with strong performances from all 8 teams.  Three of our teams have made it through to Playoffs, congrats to Geraldine Colgan, captain of our second team (Class 3), Carmel McAllister, captain of our third team (also Class 3), and Aoife Stokes, captain of sixth team (Class 6).   Our Class 3 teams are both scheduled to play at 2pm this Sunday at home, so please come out to support.  And our Class 6 team will be playing North Kildare away, so we will be eagerly awaiting results on Sunday.

Another big achievement for Monkstown Ladies is our 1st team retaining their spot in Class 1.  For many of the team this was their first time playing at this level, there were some incredible battles and fabulous tennis, so congratulations  to the captain of the team, Lisa O’Shea and all the squad, Julie Ryan, Kate Grennan, Amy Ryan, Aisling Cullen, Lucy Byrne, Rachel McAuley, Sarah McAuley and Anna Schwer.   Clodagh

Men’s Teams

The men’s 6 winter league teams all performed well, with 4 teams making it to the playoffs.  Congratulation to the first team (Class 2) captained by Stephen O’Shea, to the fourth team (Class 5) captained by Ciaran Bolger, the fifth team (Class 6) captained by Aaron Duffy, and the sixth team (Class 7) captained by Declan Cotter.  Declan’s team will be playing at home this Sunday at 11AM, so please come out to support.  In addition to the teams, I’d like to thank all those that substituted during the last 5 weeks to get the teams this far.  Craig

Ukraine

This week has brought us to think in particular about the people of Ukraine and their current suffering. It is hard to believe in this day and age that this has happened and we can only hope and pray that there will not be significant loss of lives and that we will see some form of resolution soon. Members might consider a contribution to an NGO if you can at all to help alleviate some of this suffering.

Our thoughts and prayers go to this resilient nation

Hope you all have a good weekend
