Club Membership Waiting List

Dear Member,

Wishing you all a Happy New Year with hopefully plenty of Tennis in the months ahead.

As most of you are aware, MLTC has an extensive waiting list with applications going back to early 2020. As a club we would like to be in an ongoing position to welcome new and re-joining members, however it is important we do not become oversubscribed with a need to ensure our existing membership have reasonable access to courts and coaching. Currently on the waiting list there are a total of over 240 applications of which 47 are for family memberships with the balance being senior, junior or students.

This is the first time we have had to deal with such an extensive waiting list and a membership subcommittee has been established in order to ensure it is managed in a fair and transparent manner.  A procedure is being finalised to provide a detailed overview in supporting our efforts to manage this process for all those seeking to join MLTC in line with the clubs admission procedures. (Section 2 No. 6(b) of MLTC Constitution)

The sub-committee has advised the executive committee that the club is close to maximum capacity. With this in mind the executive Committee has approved the recommendation to admit a small number of applicants for 2022 who were former members. We also wish to advise that it is has been decided that former members on the waiting list will be charged the full relevant membership joining fee if their membership has lapsed for 3 or more years as there needs to be a clear cut off point for former members wishing to resume their membership.

Please note that not all former members on the waiting list will be admitted at this time as we have a limited number of memberships to offer. Applications in this category will be progressed in the order of the date the application was received. Consideration will also be given to new member applications based on date of application.

The membership committee will continue to review the waiting list each month and some additional vacancies may become available this year. Procedures are now in place to ensure that we manage our waiting list efficiently while also ensuring we have adequate court and coaching availability for current members.
