Parents are reminded that they are responsible for their child’s safeguarding/health & safety within the club other than those times when children are participating in club programs.

SENIOR Newsletter 1st CHAMPIONSHIPS 16th to 31st August

Captains Declan & Jacqui would like to encourage all members to ente.

The championships are an inclusive club tournament, 9 events to enter with many levels catered for with bowl and plate competitions We would love to see as many members as possible participating in the highlight of the club calendar .

As well as being a competitive tournament the club championships are also great fun .The events team has a number of themed social events planned, details to follow .

For members who are looking for doubles partners both captains will endeavour to facilitate.

If anyone needs help with the tournament software please contact Declan or Jacqui.

Please pay attention when blocking out unavailability (you have 2 unavailabilities from Monday 19th August). During the recent handicaps some members accidently blocked out the wrong days and wrong times so we would appreciate your attention on this.

As mentioned in previous correspondence we will hit the ground running with a full schedule on Friday 16th from 6pm with the focus on ladies and mixed doubles.

LADIES SENIOR LEAGUE O35 1st September

MLTC has 8 teams registered for the senior league from Class 1 to class 6 starting Sunday 1st September .

LADIES OVER 60 LEAGUE 4th September

MLTC plans to.enter one team in the ladies over 60 league with matches on Wednesday at 11am from 4th September .

MEN’S SENIOR LEAGUE (0/35s and 0/45s)

The DLTC men's senior league (doubles tennis with matches played on Sunday morning) will commence in September. Quantum of teams to be registered with the DLTC by 23rd July. The base case for MLTC is that we will register x3 teams akin to 2023 i.e. two teams in the 0/35s section and one team in the 0/45s section. We have until 27 August to nominate the players for these teams. MEN’S OVER 65 LEAGUE

Registration for the DLTC over 65s men's league closes on Tuesday 13th August. Matches will be played on Thursday mornings in September.

MLTC has generally not engaged with this competition in the past.

THURSDAY - CLUB NIGHT

Club night is in action again tonight. Forecast looks dry for the evening so why not come for a hit any time from 8pm, with Stephen in attendance to kick things off!

MEN’S MORNING – Sunday Mornings

Men’s morning will take place this week from 10am to 12. Do come down for a hit and a cuppa and chat after!

JUNIOR SUPERVISION

Summer Supervision continues…. hours 11am – 1pm and 2pm – 4pm

Please ensure your child is collected promptly at lunchtime 1-2 from supervision.

No Supervision on Monday 5th August as Bank Holiday.

Don’t forget to book in on Easy Payments (1 week for €10 )

Can parents please ensure that children check in with Karen on arrival and most important that they check out with them when leaving or being collected early.

UPDATE FROM STEPHEN

The Junior Open tournament this week is being held in Clontarf. Well done to all who entered - particular congratulations to Harry Craig who won the U/12 singles title - good on you Harry!

Mary O'Callaghan plays her 1/4 Final in the U/16 singles this afternoon.. best of luck Mary....she is also still standing in the doubles.

Malahide is the venue for next week's Junior Open - Good Luck to Rosie, Robin & Richie Kennedy - Mary & Luke O'Callaghan - Daniel & Sean Carney - Isabella O'Toole - Harry Craig & Milo Leyden. Keep the Monkstown flag flying!

Good Luck to Hugo Faughan - he plays his 1/4 final match this evening in Bray, at the Co. Wicklow Senior Open.

Hard to believe we're coming to the final stages of the summer - highlighted by the Club Championships - both Senior & Junior.

The Senior Championships run from Fri 16th - Sat 31st August

The Junior event runs from Mon 19th - Sat 24th August

If you're not away on holidays it's the place to be for those dates!

Hope if you're not away next week you've signed up for my last Camp of the season - Tues 6th - Fri 9th Aug....lots of tips on how to play the Championships!

It just leaves me to wish,on behalf of us all, the VERY BEST OF LUCK to Sarah (Healy), as she takes to the track in the Olympic 1500m on Tuesday next. What an amazing & proud occasion for you Sarah.
