MLTC Newsflash from Stephen

Hi All,

This week sees the return of the Irish Open, Ireland’s only international professional tournament. Leading the Irish challenge in the Men’s draw is our very own Conor Gannon

The tournament commenced this morning in Carrickmines LTC and Conor was first on the main court at 9.30am. He won his match 6/3, 6/1 against compatriot Zach Murphy. His second round match is likely to be played on Thursday.

Tickets are available on www.tennisireland.ie with matches also shown live via a video link, again accessible on the Tennis Ireland website.

This is the perfect opportunity for Monkstown members to see Conor compete in a professional tournament so close to home. He has been practising in Monkstown in recent days and we wish him the very best of luck in the Irish Open as he looks to round off a successful summer before he heads back for his final year at the University of Memphis.

Conor has also been selected to play for Leinster in next weekend’s Senior Interprovincial Championships in Sunday’s Well, Co Cork.  Monkstown will have another representative within the Leinster ranks with Johnny O’Shea being one of the selectors for the squad.

Best of Luck Conor from all in Monkstown LTC
