All lost property is in the container under the tv in the function room.  Please take any items belonging to you as all items will be brought to the clothes bank next week.

MLTC CLUB TENNIS GEAR
We are pleased to advise that some MLTC Club Tennis Gear will be available for purchase by members shortly.

A small group, coordinated by Lorraine Ryan & Aoife Stokes, have made arrangements for Reese Sportwear, a leading provider of sportswear, to provide a range of sportswear items to the club.
The group felt that there was a demand by members for such sportswear, particularly by members who are playing on league teams.
The items include:

-Ladies tennis singlet
-Ladies/Men's tennis tee shirts
-Ladies / Men's hoodies
-Ladies and Men's rain resistant breathable jackets

Samples of the above items will be on display in the ladies and men's changing rooms from tomorrow, Friday 5th May so people can try sizes etc.  The items are navy in colour with a white trim and will be branded with the MLTC logo in dark yellow type.
A price list will also be posted in the changing rooms (the higher the quantity we order the lower the price).

You are welcome to try on the items and, if you decide to buy, contact Lorraine Ryan who has kindly agreed to coordinate orders on behalf of the club.  Her e-mail address is legan1413@icloud.com.
Lorraine will require your Name/ Description of garment/Size, and once we know the quantity of the first order she will revert to you with the exact cost.  As the items are branded there will be no exchange or return available.

We will aim to get an initial order to the supplier shortly so please email Lorraine by the 14th May if you are interested. Any queries please contact Lorraine Ryan, Aoife Stokes, Sarah Robson or Fiona Galvin.

SUMMER LEAGUE
Summer league matches get under way in the next few days.

We have entered 8 Ladies teams and 5 Mens teams - the very best of luck to all teams.

TENNIS 4 CANCER Handbags & Glad Rags Ladies Doubles Tournament

We are delighted to be hosting a Tennis for Cancer event in the club on Sunday 21st May. The event is a “Handbags and Glad Rags” ladies doubles tournament followed by lunch.

The format for the tennis competition is that there will be 8 teams of 6 players. Each team will consist of 1 pair of class 2/3 standard, 1 pair of class 4/5 standard and 1 pair of Class 6/7 standard, so we are hoping for wide participation. There will be two groups and initial stages will be timed round robin matches (20 minutes) followed by semi-finals and a final. Tennis will start at 10  am sharp with lunch at 1pm.

We are also asking you to donate “pre loved” clothing and handbags in good condition which we will display and sell on the day - so you can browse the rails when you are off court or at lunch. Jewellery and scarves are also welcome. We will be collecting these donations on Saturday 20th so we can have them ready to display on the following morning.

Entry fee is 30 euro for tennis plus lunch or 20 euro for lunch only. You can also pop up anytime if you just want to browse the rails!

All proceeds will go to Tennis for Cancer charity which was set up by long time Monkstown member Grace Owens

Sign up is now open on easy payments.

For further information contact Catherine Keane, Karen MacKenna,  Aoife Stokes

UPDATE FROM HEAD COACH STEPHEN

Lovely photo below of Amy Ryan and Declan O’Rourke who represented the Irish Team at the European Lawyers Tennis Championship in Palermo, Sicily.

They played some great tennis and had very close matches and in the end the Mens competition was won by Croatia and the Ladies by England.

Very best of luck to Kate (Grennan)  and  Rachel (Mc Auley) as they head off to the other side of the world within the next two weeks.

Our ladies Champion, Kate, is heading to New Zealand, while Rachel is going to Australia. You'll be both  much missed  - especially on  Wednesday  nights when we had good tennis and some laughs....to say nothing of the loss you will both be to the Ladies 1st Team! Good to hear you're bringing your racquets with you!!

Coincidentally, at the same time, we welcome back our ever loyal Conor (Gannon) from the States....just in time for a couple of league matches!

And after three years in the States, Fergus (O'Rourke) has finally come home.. just to play league for Monkstown!....Great to have you back lads.

With the Summer League  starting this week, I wish you all a successful

campaign.

                       Stephen

JUNIOR INFO

JUNIOR COMMITTEE NOTIFICATION FOR JUNIORS

We wish to put forward a proposal to encourage more competitive play among our junior members. Our Head Coach Stephen says that, at every level, our juniors can improve their games by playing matches, whether it is with other juniors within the club or in external competitions.

Therefore, we plan to put together some ‘Groupings’ within age groups and we intend to use the match-play Friday sessions to get some of these games started.

Over the coming weeks, our Junior Committee coordinators will reach out to their WhatsApp Groups so that you can opt in or opt out. Then, we will ask our coaches to put together the ‘Groupings’ so that games can start.

Thanks

MLTC Junior Committee
