MLTC Club Notices 09.03.23

Newsletter 9th  March 2023

POSTPONEMENT!  TONIGHT’S EVENT!

Unfortunately, due to today's severe weather warning, we have to postpone our 'Super-coaching' charity social event to Thursday 23rd March.

Many thanks to everyone who has signed up for this event,  to our fantastic coaches and to those who have already supported our raffle.

Representatives from Goal will join us on the 23rd to draw the winning tickets and to accept MLTC's donation to the victims of the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey.

COURT CLOSURE

We wish to advise members that DLR and our court contractors will be carrying out an initial inspection of the roots and bubbling on courts 4 and 5 next Thursday 16th March.  They will be accessing the club via the laneway which will be closed to members for parking for the morning.  The contractors will be rolling back the court carpet and will assess the level of root damage.  Provisionally we have scheduled the week of the 27th March for the full removal of the roots on courts 4, 5, and 6 and following this inspection we may need to install a concrete barrier to minimise the risk of re-occurrence.

Members will be kept informed of all work to the courts in the coming weeks.

WINTER LEAGUE

The Ladies winter league team 4 had a very narrow defeat to Clontarf 6 in their play-off last Sunday.  It was a fantastic display of tennis and everyone played their hearts out.  The matches went down to the wire with the result being decided by the third set of the last match which unfortunately we narrowly lost.

Well done to all concerned for making it to the play-offs - Captain Lisa O Sullivan and her team Jana Stevenson, Ruth Kennedy, Arlene Sommerville, Anne Noonan, Pat Cowley and squad players Lucy Schwer and Clara Mc Gannon.  We are very proud of you all!

MEN’S MORNING

Men’s morning on Sunday will be on at the usual time of 10am until 12 this week.

Do come to enjoy a game, all standards welcome.
