HALLOWEEN TENNIS CAMPS 

Tuesday 29th Oct to Friday 1st November

 Age 6 to 8 years,   10am – 11.30am 

Age 9 to 12 years, 11.30am to 1pm

 Booking now open on Easy Payments!

If your child is bringing a friend to camp please book the friend in on Easy Payment under the Bring a Friend selection.  We will then send you a form which it is necessary for the friend’s parent/guardian to fill out for insurance purposes.

  

MIXED DOUBLES COMPETITION

Following the club handicaps and championships during the summer we recognise that members really enjoy mixed doubles .As a result registration is open for a competitive mixed doubles team event followed by pizza and drinks on Friday 18th October.

Registration is free on easy payments .All details circulated by club Newsflash yesterday 9th Oct. We look forward to seeing you then.

CAPTAINS CHRISTMAS CRAIC…ER!   

Captains Declan & Jacqui are rescuing the turkeys   this year and are planning a different type of event.  Please save the date- Sunday 15th December

 MEN’S COACHING

A reminder that coaching for class 4 to class 7 players runs every Monday evening at 9pm. Next session will be on Monday October 14. New members are welcome - come along and give it a go!!  The younger lads are welcome too!!  Any questions - please contact men's captain Declan at 0876305450. 

 

 O60s LEAGUE 

Well what can we say about our amazing o60 team that we haven't said before.  Another fabulous win playing super tennis and now through to the semi finals.

Delighted for the team who will play Clontarf at home next Wednesday at 11am.  Congratulations to everyone involved who have contributed to this success.  We are all super proud of you

 

LADIES FLOODLIGHT LEAGUE

A good week for floodlight with all 3 teams doing well .A shout out in particular to team 2 captained by Isabelle Blake who after round 3 of the group stages are top of their group 

After some excellent tennis and close matches in the early rounds team 3 won this week - Well done everyone.  Against tough competition our first team is hanging in there and playing super tennis. With 2 more rounds to go all 3 teams have everything to play for


 MEN’S SENIOR LEAGUE (0/35s and 0/45s)

Last weekend, Team 2 (O35 /class 3; captained by Bill Condon) continued their great form in the senior league by winning their "last 16" round of the playoffs at home to Celbridge. This weekend, Bill and his troops will head across the Liffey for their quarter final clash against Clontarf - Saturday at 1:30pm (to be confirmed). The winners of this match will then play in the semi finals on Sunday (which guarantees promotion to class 2). Best of luck men - Bill Condon, Peter O'Leary, Denis Feighery, Rob Ryan, Eoin Langford, Brian Crowe, Gary Crowley, Conor Blake, Feargal McDonnell, and Alfie Smyth. Go MLTC!!

 

 MEN’S FLOODLIGHT LEAGUE

MLTC has two teams (both at class 2) competing in the DLTC men's floodlight league (format contemplates a team of 4 players with two singles matches and one doubles match - matches played on Monday evenings at 7pm).  Team 1 enjoyed a super home win against Malahide - well done Johnny O'Shea (team captain), Scott Barron, Harry Crossan, and David Cullen. Team 1 will travel to Rathgar on Monday next - best of luck all.

Team 2 had a tough away encounter this week in Shankill - David Keane (team captain), Hugo Faughnan, Gary Kelly, and Philip Bolger. Team 2 will host Glenageary at home on Monday coming at 7pm. Best ok luck David and all on team 2. Again, do come along and support our club members in action - and catch some great tennis too!! 

 

 CHARITY LEAGUE

We had 3 Charity League team wins this week. Five fiercely fought and close matches yielded 9 points for MLTC. Strong start to the Autumn competition 

 

 LADIES MORNING        

Elaine O’Toole is hosting next Wednesday ladies morning starting at 10am, so please come down for tennis, followed by coffee and chats.

 

CLUB NIGHT – Thursday Evenings

Club night is on tonight, forecast is good so do come along anytime between 8pm and 10pm for a social game, and Stephen will get things started at 8pm!

MEN’S MORNING – Sunday Mornings

Men's tennis morning on this Sunday morning 10am to 12.  Do come down and have a hit and a coffee!  

  

UPDATE  FROM  STEPHEN

Congrats to the Mens' 2nd O/35 team - Captained by Bill Condon - who have reached the 1/4 Final of the Senior League. They play Clontarf 1st on Sat next the 12th, Away @ 1.30pm.  Semi Final (hopefully!) will be played on Sunday 13th - v either Rathgar 1st or Elm Park 2nd - unfortunately Away.

 The O/60's Ladies Team - captained by Jennifer Byrne -  won their 1/4 final match yesterday & play Clontarf in the Semi Final,next Wednesday, At Home @ 11am.  Good Luck, Jennifer, and your team also.

 The Ladies Charity League is now up and running. Very best of luck to both the Monday & Tuesday teams.

 Good idea by our Captains  to run a mixed tournament on Friday  the 18th.

Good luck with it, Declan & Jacqui - I hope it's a great success.

The great Nadal has just announced his retirement – end of an era, what a guy!!!

 U12 STARS & STRIPES

Big congratulations to all of our MLTC Junior players who took part in the Autumn U12 Stars and Stripes League. Our team of Girls and Boys got through to the Cup Final against Glenageary. The final was played on Saturday of last weekend in Leopardstown, and though it didn’t go our way, the level of tennis was excellent, as was the spirit of our wonderful team. Over the course of this Stars & Stripes league, we were represented by 37 junior players in both competitive and friendly doubles matches:

 Girls - Ciara O’Sullivan, Isabella O’Toole, Lauren Geraghty, Caoimhe O’Kane, Róisín Hassell, Annalie McCambridge, Grace Moroney, Grace O’Callaghan, Sarah O’Callaghan, Jessie Woods, Claire Mehigan, Emyrose Tomkin-Beddy, Amy Keogh, Isabela Dalton, Holly Hanrahan, Hannah Duffy, Moya O’Kane, Lea Muslow, Ciara O’Shea and Laura O’Brien.

 Boys: Zach O’Rourke, Michael Mehigan, James Maguire, Rhian Church, Rian Houlihan, Emmet O’Malley, Jasper Gill Matthews, Michael Mc Callum, Henry Lennon, Tomas Carron, Max Graham, Matthew Smyth, Lochlan Owen, Sam Carney, Jim Barry, Oli Leyden and Tom Langford.

 Well done to everyone who took part and represented our club so well - you did us proud. And a special thank you to all the parents for managing the lifts and logistics!
