JUNIOR LEAGUES
Well done to all of our Juniors who competed in the recent U14 and U18 league campaigns. We had 6 teams entered. Fantastic to see 2 boys and 2 girls teams at the U18 age group.
Congratulations to our 3 Junior Teams who have been successful in reaching the Playoffs of their league campaign.
Our Girls U18 Team 1 topped their group and have received a bye in the first round of the playoffs. Their next match will be at home on the 3rd of November. Our Boys U18 Team 1 also topped their group and will play Clontarf 1 at home this weekend at 5pm on Sunday. Finally our Girls U14s were runners up in their group and have drawn Blackrock 1 in their playoff. They will also be playing at home on Sunday at 3.30pm.
We look forward to some great competitive tennis this Sunday and in the coming weeks.
The whole club is cheering you on. Best of Luck.
MEN’S SENIOR LEAGUE (0/35s and 0/45s)
MLTC's men's senior league campaign drew to a close last week with Team 2 (O35 /class 3; captained by Bill Condon) contesting the semi-finals of the playoffs against Rathgar. The result on the day didn't go our way. Nevertheless, Team 2 gained promotion to class 2 - a super achievement.
Well done Bill and Team 2 for flying the flag for men's tennis at MLTC.
[Team 2: Bill Condon, Peter O'Leary, Denis Feighery, Rob Ryan, Eoin Langford, Brian Crowe, Gary Crowley, Conor Blake, Feargal McDonnell, and Alfie Smyth.]
MEN’S COACHING
A reminder that coaching for class 4 to class 7 players runs every Monday evening at 9pm. Next session will be on Monday October 21. New members are welcome - come along and give it a go!! The younger lads are welcome too!! Any questions - please contact men's captain Declan at 0876305450.
LADIES O60s LEAGUE
Well .....what can we say about this team that we haven't said every week since this league started 💁♀️
Guess what they have done now ? Yes ... they have won their class 2 semi final in a nail biting tiebreak to reach the final 😳
Huge congratulations to all who played yesterday and to everyone in previous weeks who have helped get the team this far 👏
Reaching a final doesn't happen everyday 💁♀️
The team will play Malahide next Wednesday at 11am in Celbridge .We wish them every success ....one more match ladies 💪
MEN’S FLOODLIGHT LEAGUE
MLTC has two teams (both at class 2) competing in the DLTC men's floodlight league (format contemplates a team of 4 players with two singles matches and one doubles match - matches played on Monday evenings at 7pm). Team 1 (captained by Johnny O'Shea) had a tough encounter this week away to Rathgar but did pick up a value point for their efforts - well done Kevin Wylde, Jack Stokes, David Cullen, and Harry Crossan. Team 1 will host Brookfield on Monday next at 7pm (home match). Do come along and support our club members in action - and catch some great tennis too!!
Team 2 (captained by David Keane) also had a challenging away contest this week against Glenageary - again team 2 picked up a useful point on the road. Well done David Keane, Hugo Faughnan, Gary Kelly, and Philip Bolger. Team 2 will travel to Greystones on Monday next. Best of luck guys! Go MLTC! !
LADIES FLOODLIGHT LEAGUE
Our 3 teams battled in awful conditions on Tuesday night in round 4 matches.
Our first team enjoyed a good win and have a shot at reaching play offs.
The second team faced very tough opposition but are still in second place and all to go for to reach playoffs.
Heartbreaking disappointment for our third team who achieved I point this week and lost the other 2 matches in very close tiebreaks 😢
We wish all 3 teams the very best of luck for the last group match next week.
CHARITY LEAGUE
The Charity League campaign continued its strong start with 3 out of 4 wins (Team 4 had a bye) gaining 7 points for MLTC.
