CAPTAIN’S UPDATE

Hope everyone has recovered from the club handicaps

What an amazing 2 weeks of tennis , so many super matches and such a great atmosphere in the club.

Thanks to everyone who entered and those who came up to support and for making it such fun

Congratulations to the 16 winners and 16 runner ups.

If you weren't at the prize giving last Saturday your prize is in the office with Carol.

Thank you for the many messages saying how much fun you had both on and off the court  It is so nice to hear

Well  ...what can we say about the Wimbledon BBQ

Such a fun night .....being outdoors , the delicious BBQ, fabulous music from Kevin O 'Sullivan with both dancing and volleyball on court 4

Apologies to any member not at the BBQ who lives near by.

We decided at the last minute to have the music outside as it was a lovely evening and we didn't appreciate how loud it would be

If you enjoyed Spanish Captains Day and the Wimbledon BBQ you are going to love the At Home and if you missed them you do NOT want to miss this!!

We have The Bee Gees  performing for us in the Royal Marine Hotel on Saturday 31st August at the At Home.   It should be another night to remember

Details to follow very soon on the club championships starting on 16th August.  We are also planning more fun events around the championships as well as the At Home.

All will be revealed as soon as  the handicap team come out of recovery after the last few weeks

 Captains Jacqui & Declan

UPDATE  FROM  STEPHEN

We had  great Finals days,  both on Friday last for the Juniors and Saturday for the Seniors.

Congrats to all who contested a Final and well done to the winners!

At the Co Dublin graded tournament in Carrickmines last week Ellen Lawless & Anna Byrne won the H/Cap Doubles event - Congrats to you both.

Anna was just pipped in the Mixed Final.

Next week the Co Wicklow Open will be held in Bray tennis club with Kevin Wylde - Hugo Faughnan - playing in the singles event and Pat Cowley & Miriam Russell partnering in the doubles.  Good luck to all!

On the Junior side, the East of Ireland Tour 1000 is taking place this week in Sutton, with a large crew from Monkstown taking part...a bit of a family event with the 3 Kennedys Rosie, Robyn & Richie - 3 Geraghtys Matthew, Grace & Lauren - 2 O'Callaghans Mary & Luke....along with Milo Leyden, Mia Keogh, Layla Mc Cambridge and Ciara O'Sullivan. Very encouraging to see so many of you heading over to Sutton.

There could be an interesting U/14 Girls Final on Saturday, with Rosie Kennedy seeded 1 and Robyn seeded 2! Rosie plays her 1/4 Final today - Robyn is already in the Semis. Interesting match in store for Mum & Dad Ruth & Richard to watch! Good luck Rosie & Robyn.

Leopardstown is next week's venue with Zoe Craig, Ciara & Darragh O'Sullivan and young Zach O'Rourke playing in his first open tournament!

Best of luck to all.

I'm looking forward to welcoming all who have signed up for the Camp next week - not too late to sign up if you'd like to join in.

Cheers        Stephen
