UPDATE FROM STEPHEN
Congratulations to Rosie Kennedy who won the Donnybrook Tour 1000 U/16 singles title last Saturday....defeating her sister Robyn in the Final.. tough one for Ruth & Rob to watch from the sidelines...although very proud of them both.
Zoe Craig was just pipped in the 1/4 final of the U/16 singles with young Richie Kennedy losing in the semis of the U/12 singles.
Robyn made the final of the U/14 mixed, but just lost out for the title.
A great representation of Monkstown players on Finals day...Well done all round!
The Junior Tournament season ends with the prestigious Irish Junior Lawn Tennis Championships of Ireland being played at Fitzwilliam this week.
You have to have achieved a certain standard to qualify for the main event.
This year 7 Juniors qualified - Rosie & Robyn, U/14 Singles / dbls & mixed. Richie Kinsella U/18 Dbls – Andrew Schwer U16 Singles, Doubles, Xdbls, - Richie Kennedy U/12 Singles - Mia Keogh U/12 singles - Harry Craig U/12 dbls & Darragh O'Sullivan U/12 dbls.
Robyn has reached the semis of her singles event & plays tomorrow. She & Robyn are in the doubles Final & they play each other in the mixed 1/4 final later today...busy week in the Kennedy house with Rob & Ruth also playing in the club Championships! If you have time do pop into Fitz - the standard of tennis on view is super. Very best of luck girls
Our own "prestigious" tournament in the club is moving along very nicely, with some exciting matches to watch. Finish off your summer by popping down to the club any evening - you'll be guaranteed some super tennis & a glass of wine or two!
Well done Declan Jacqui & your crew...all going very smoothly.
Our Juniors have their big week this week with Finals day on Saturday.
Very encouraging to see so many entries & the kids enjoying themselves - although pretty competitive as well! Well done Karen & Lucy for organising it all so well.
Don't forget to sign up for the new coaching term
All the best Stephen
