Hard to believe we're heading into the 2nd week of October and as I look out the window everyone is playing in summer tennis gear! Long may it last.
Karen has had an enormous reaction (84 players!) to the Ladies Doubles Box Competition. Vice Captain Clodagh and Karen spent hours yesterday morning matching people together at the various levels. Entries are CLOSED, so please no more emails or texts to enter. The Boxes will be on the Notice Board for your viewing within the next couple of days... slightly delayed due to the huge entry!
The Winter League teams have just one match left in the group sections...on the Men’s side both the 3rd Team (Capt Ciaran Bolger) and the 6th team (Capt Niall O'Carroll) hope to qualify...best of luck Lads!
On the Ladies side the 1st Team (Capt Gina Niland), 2nd Team (Capt Karen MacKenna), 3rd Team (Capt Ailish McGlew) and the 4th Team (Capt Pat Cowley) have all qualified for the playoffs regardless of next Sunday's results. Super performance Ladies!
Club Night tonight will be hosted by Declan and Isabella...with Stephen again being on hand for the first hour to communicate any special skills that you might like to improve!...a lovely mild evening, so do pop down (8pm - 10pm).

"DATE FOR YOUR DIARIES: HALLOWEEN TOURNAMENT - 9.30am - WED. OCT 20th
We're delighted that the Halloween Tournament has got the 'thumbs up' to go ahead this year and will be held on October 20th, starting at 9.30am. This will involve great tennis, amazing craic and some very nice food to maintain everyone's sugar levels. There will be many prizes including Winners/Runner-up and best/spookiest costumes. There is a nominal fee of €15 to play, this will be collected on the morning of the tournament. Everyone is welcome, especially any new members, as it's a great morning to get to know everyone. The sign-up sheet is now on the Notice Board opposite the front door of the clubhouse and the closing date is Monday 18th ...so get signing! Hope to see you all there". The Ladies Committee
The U/12 Stars & Stripes proved very successful....with playoffs this Saturday. Following quickly on the heels of the U/12's is the U/14 Stars & Stripes. The U/14's start on Saturday 30th October and runs for 5 weeks. The sign-up sheet is on the Junior Notice Board. Andrea would like volunteers....one to manage the Boys’ team and one to manage the Girls’ team...PLEASE!
There have been quite a few enquiries re a Halloween Tennis Camp - so Stephen has decided to run one from Tues 26th - Fri 29th Oct.
Age Group / Times:
6 - 8 years... 10am - 11.30am
9/10 years - 11.30am - 1pm.
11/12 years 2pm - 3.30pm.
TEENS 3.30 - 5pm
Cost €60
Booking will be through Easy Payments, which will be open for booking from 12 noon on Wednesday next, 13th October.
It was lovely to welcome Julie Byrne down to the club last night as she popped down to have a hit with the gang.....she looks as fit as ever...even though she's living it up in London!
