Hi Folks!

Breaking news from Los Angeles!!....  Our President Susie,  & Ciaran have within the last hour become Grandparents to a baby girl - a sister to Ruari - born to former member Stephen & Emma...heartiest Congrats to all...wonderful news in these strange times!

Exciting news from Conor Gannon...he has verbally committed to join University of Tennessee come September 2021 on a tennis scholarship. The University's Tennis Team is currently ranked number 12 in the USA and its Head Coach, Chris Woodruff, is a former world number 29 player. Conor has a current ITF juniors ranking of 268 (highest ranking 256 in January 2020) and has won 3 ITF singles and 5 ITF doubles titles and has been Irish NationalChampion in singles at 12s / 14s / 16s and 18s. Congratulations Conor.....what an opportunity ahead for you...and to think it all started here in Monkstown!...your loyalty to the club is well noted.

There are various Sub-Committee meetings taking place on an ongoing basis to review the various guidelines. The Executive will meet to discuss Phase 2 of the reopening of the club and our President, Susie will email you on Monday to update you all. We hope this will facilitate a lot more play... by the way it has been noted that some members are actually playing twice a day...this is not permitted...just one game a day please!

With the extended opening hours, a few changes have been made to Court Times:

Please check the Website regularly where Helen Lane does a super job updating guidelines etc. on a regular basis.

Spare a thought for our poor Captains, Ciaran & Helen...instead of being involved at the height of the Summer League, with teams heading for playoffs (!), they're spending their time behind the scene at meetings, updating guidelines etc.  Let's hope they'll be able to organise some competitive tennis - maybe (hopefully!) July / August.

On Mon / Tues 15th / 16th June there will be some ground maintenance going on with slight disruption to courts 2 & 3...check booking sheet. Kevin Polley will give further details nearer the day.

Again thanks to all of you for adhering to the guidelines...they don't seem to be interfering with your enjoyment of your game!....the booking sheet sure is very active....so don't forget to cancel if you can't make your game.

That's it for this week....as always take care and look out for each other.

Helen Lane
