Snippets 06/08/20

Here we are in August - and playing the semi-final of the Winter League 2020!  But what a match it promises to be - Scott and Mickey Mac.... Conor and Stephen....George and Johnny... all mustard keen to get going again and hopefully get the team up to Class 1.  Templeogue 1st are the opposition so - it will be very competitive.  This all happens on Sunday next - the 9th - in Monkstown at 11am.  Supporters welcome - but please sanitise your hands on arrival and keep your distance!

NB  Ciaran and Helen have asked me to remind you that TOMORROW (7th) is the closing date for entry to the Club Championships (14th - 29th August).  Entry forms are on the website and please pay by Easy Payments - also on the website.  Thanks to Helen (Lane) for her continuous updating of same.  

Conor Gannon is back on the local circuit playing in the DLR Classic, taking place in Carrickmines this Friday/Saturday/Sunday.  Very best of luck Conor!

JUNIORS:  Although Junior Finals day was a little bit different this year - there was great talent to be seen throughout the week and for the finals.  Thanks again to Adrienne and Anna for running it so smoothly.  Our thanks to Adrienne for supervising for the month of July.  Welcome to Karen - our supervisor for August.

Shankill Junior Open is on this week.  Four of our juniors are involved - all doing very well.  Isobel Craig has reached the final (U14s) and her sister Zoe is playing her semi final match in the U12s this afternoon.  Scott Barron is in the semis of the Boys U14 singles to be played tomorrow and Cliona Walsh plays her quarter final (U18) later this afternoon.  

As always - you members have rallied around with generosity, in contributing to Arek's fund to help with the cost of replacing his car.  We intend to give Arek his surprise envelope on Wednesday next.  You may drop an envelope into the letter box in the gate if you so wish.

Love is in the air!!  Two engagements to announce this week - Michael and Grace's daughter Nessa (Sheil) has become engaged to her beau Philip and Kevin and Barbara's son Rory popped the question to his love Amanda!  Wishing all four of you a life full of happiness and health.

And where would we be without a new baby!  Liam and Trish are proud grandparents to precious little Amelie - born to Brian and Ilona - welcome baby Amelie!
