We had our own Wimbledon here last Sunday with the Semi Final of the Men’s Winter League!

Monkstown 1st played Templeogue 1st....and what tennis we saw.  The standard of all 3 doubles was just brilliant...and what tension!  But yet again our supporters created a great atmosphere and willed the team on to get over the line. Huge congratulations to

Scott / Mickeymac   -   Conor / Stephen   &   George / Johnny...you sure did us proud.

Here's to the Final... whenever that may be!

Our Club Championships start tomorrow...we should be in for a feast of good tennis over the next 2 weeks. Good luck to our Captains Ciaran & Helen...ably assisted by Anne Tweedy.  The draws and schedule are now on the website.  Court bookings will obviously be affected by the championships , but do check on a daily basis as bookings might change to free up courts. Also please take note of the refreshed guidelines ahead of the Championships. Again our thanks to Jacqui (McCabe) for her continued commitment to the protection of our members.

Our Juniors are enjoying their last couple of weeks of freedom before school! Karen continues as supervisor for this month.  Thanks to Stephen for running tennis camps over the last couple of weeks...they proved very popular.  Adrienne will run her traditional camp week commencing Mon 24th August.   The Irish Junior Championships start on Sunday next.  Very best of luck to all Monkstown competitors.

Another casualty of the COVID restrictions is the very popular "Golden Oldies" night hosted by Mick & Breege (Clancy)  Fingers crossed we can hold it at a later date.

If only there was someone here in the office with me to witness Arek's reaction to the envelope which contained the contributions from his friends in MLTC - Total €1910.00.  He stood dumbfounded and then the tears flowed...I have never seen a reaction like it ...he was totally stunned with the generosity & thoughtfulness of people....so all I can say on his behalf is

Thank You, Thank you, Thank you.  We really have a very special membership.

On that emotional note I'll sign off for this week...time is flying by so enjoy what remains of August.
