Hi Folks!
Well we've finally arrived at Competition time - with both the Senior and Junior Handicaps starting next Monday the 12th. A good entry has been received for both events so we look forward to the old competitive spirit being on view!
Senior Handicaps: The draw and schedule should be up for viewing on Saturday next through Tournament Software. Please check the order of play carefully and arrive on time for your match!
Due to the Handicaps there will be no court availability after 6...but please do check if you'd like a court, as courts may be freed up at short notice.
Caroline & Sonya are organising the annual BBQ to be held on the evening of Final's Day...so Save The Date..Saturday 24th July. Booking will open early next week through Easy Payments. Due to COVID guidelines numbers will be limited - with tables of 6 being bookable - of which there will be 8 tables.
Junior Handicaps: The Junior Handicaps are scheduled each day 10am - 1pm and 2pm - 5pm. The Schedule of play will be on display on the patio door beside Adrienne's desk at least one day in advance of the match. Please check the order of play carefully, as competitors will have to play more than one match each day. Matches will be played regardless of weather conditions...so come prepared!
Court availability is confined to Handicap matches only, for the week...so NO supervised tennis next week. Adrienne also asked me to remind you that there are a few outstanding entry fees.. please pay on arrival for first match...thanks a mil. Best of luck to all competitors and have a great week!
Young Zoe Craig and Rosie Kennedy continue to play the circuit this week - Tramore in Co Waterford is the venue.... both of them have reached the quarter finals of the U/12 singles and are about to go on court for their matches..Very best of luck to you both!
As previously mentioned, Stephen has lined up an interview with the 1987 Wimbledon Champion and former World Number 4 Pat Cash. The interview, which will include a series of questions prepared by junior members of the club, will be recorded early next week. We will send you a link to the interview towards the end of next week. I'm sure they won't be short of interesting topics to discuss given the events of recent days and weeks!
A big Welcome Home to Alan O'Mahony who arrives from Dubai today for a couple of weeks break... Eleanor will be in her element!!..hope you get down for a hit in the club, Alan.
What can I say to our Olympians..the two Sarahs who set off on their dream trip to Tokyo tomorrow. Sarah (McAuley) who represents Ireland in hockey and Sarah (Healy) who runs in the 1500m. It really is an incredible achievement for you both and each and every one of us here in the tennis club wishes you all the luck in the world....enjoy the moment.
That's it for this week....all go in the club at the moment, with everyone working very hard for all your enjoyment.
For those of you off on holidays, have a wonderful time and mind yourselves.
Don't expect me to comment on Wimbledon😥...it's just too raw at the moment!!
Warm regards
Judy
