Snippets 12/08/21

Hi Folks!

Well as we edge towards the highlight of the Summer -  the Club Championships and the Junior Championships are about to begin.

The Captains - Eoin and Karen, ably assisted as always by Anne (T) - are beavering away in the function room doing the Draws / schedules etc.  They're delighted to inform me that there's a very good entry this year.  The Draws will be available from this evening on the Tennis Ireland software. Click on the link at the top of the club website to view.  Eoin and Karen also asked me to stress the importance of taking a close look at the schedule, as there will be matches played both on Friday evening (tomorrow) and throughout the weekend.

"Save The Date" - Saturday 28th August...another exciting announcement from the Captains to confirm that at the end of the Championships there will be an "At Home" evening function to be held at the Royal Irish Yacht Club.  Further details will follow next week.

Imagine getting a thrill seeing the Notice Board going 'Live'!!...there are two sign up sheets for your attention.  Volunteers are being sought to sign up for 'check in’ duty during the Championships.

Also the announcement from the DLTC that they are holding the Winter League 2021 commencing Sunday 12th September - with the finals on Sunday 14th November...Mens matches are played Sunday mornings, with the Ladies taking to the courts in the afternoon. Please sign up if you are interested in playing....don't forget you must be able to commit to a minimum of three matches...or else register as a Sub.

 JUNIORS:  A good entry has also been received for the Junior Championships...Karen (MacK) is also beavering away doing the draw and schedule..and waiting for the faithful Anne (T) to oversee it! The draw and schedule will be available from tomorrow, Friday, at midday.

Just a reminder that there will be NO supervised tennis next week. Also, Karen asked me to make sure Juniors bring a drink and tennis balls with them for their match.

A couple of our Juniors continue to play on the circuit...young Robyn Kennedy won the U/12 250 series Singles event in Shankill last week.  Well done Robyn!  Rosie Kennedy and Zoe Craig have qualified for the U/12 doubles in Fitz next week. There are other Juniors playing in Donnybrook this week with the challenge of qualifying for next week. Very best of luck to you all....it's every Junior's dream to play in The Irish Open.

Stephen is going to run a two day "End of Summer" fun tennis mini camp on Thurs / Fri  26th / 27th Aug.  Details as follows..

10am - 11am      4 - 6 year olds

11am - 1pm        7 - 9 year olds

2pm - 4pm        10 - 12 year olds

4pm - 5pm       Teens

Booking is now open through Easy Payments

The Autumn Term for Junior Coaching will commence week beginning Monday 13th  September.   Full details will follow shortly.

It looks like we're in for a couple of week's great tennis...do pop down & watch - both our Juniors daytime and in the evening our Seniors.
