Snippets 20/02/20
Well Storm Dennis followed on the heels of Storm Ciara and again wreaked havoc with the leagues last weekend. Seven of the eight Ladies teams were able to complete their matches - I don't know how! - and deserve great credit for their perseverance in dreadful conditions. The men weren't so lucky and had to reschedule all their matches. At this point I must say a big Thank You to the members who had to forfeit their courts to allow the matches be played...particularly Tuesday night! A bit of a nightmare for the Captains, Ciaran & Helen....but all got sorted in the end. With just one match to go before the Playoffs the following are the standings...Men: 1st & 2nd teams both in 3rd position..3rd team are 5th..... 4th team in 4th - 5th team in a bit of trouble! and the 6th team top their section! All to play for in the last match.
Ladies: 1st / 2nd/ 3rd & 4th teams in 2nd spot....5th & 6th teams in 3rd place...7th in a bit of trouble!...and the 8th team are also in 3rd place. Again all to play for in their last match next Sunday. Very best of luck to all the teams & enjoy! This Sunday is busy re the courts..... 2 x matches @ 9.30am followed by 2 x matches @ 11 am and in the afternoon 2 x matches @ 2pm & 2 x matches @ 3.30.
The Easter Cup continues on Saturday morning with Joe Byrne & Gus Legge captaining their respective teams....with 3 matches to go, again all to play for. There is 1 x match here @ 11am this Saturday.
Club Night: Despite the changeable weather Isabella Davison has insisted on hosting Club Night tonight! So do wrap up and pop down and have a hit...thanks a mil Isabella!
Ladies Morning had a nice rest this Wednesday...all systems go next week with Charity league matches on both Monday & Tuesday mornings @ 10 am..just 3 courts required and Ladies Morning as usual on Weds next - preceded by coaching @ 9am.
Juniors: There were over 55 kiddies aged 7 - 12 years playing in a fun / Pizza tournament yesterday....great fun was had by all and thanks to Stephen - Adrienne & Karen for organising the tennis and the Mummys for serving the yummee Pizzas!The Juniors playing in the various mid term tournaments only get underway today...good luck all!

Exciting news coming from the ITF event in Norway where Conor is playing this week....as I write Conor is taking to the court to play the Semis of the Doubles...fingers crossed!
Just to update you on the Sports Capital Grant of € 84,421.00 which we were awarded a couple of months ago ....there are Sub Committees beavering away in the background getting quotes re the upgrading of the Floodlights and major improvements to the changing rooms... so we should have some positive decisions shortly...exciting times!
