Snippets 27/02/20

Exciting news coming from Norway where our own Conor (Gannon) won the ITF Doubles title there last week and in a back-to-back tournament. I've just got confirmation that he's won his Singles Semi-Final...and after a bit of a rest will play in the Doubles Semi-Final later this afternoon.  Brilliant achievement Conor...Congrats on your great win last week and fingers crossed for a double this week!....no pressure!!

Now to domestic achievements where we have 4 Ladies teams and 2 Men’s teams qualifying for the Winter League playoffs...a great representation. The Ladies teams to qualify are the 1st - 2nd - 3rd & 4th teams...with the Men’s 1st & 6th teams coming through.  The following are the Playoff draws:

MEN

  • Monkstown 6th v Swords 2nd - AWAY - Sun next the 1st @ 11am...Good Luck Niall and your team!  

LADIES 

  • Monkstown 2nd v Naas 4th - AT HOME - Sun 1st  @ 2pm

  • Monkstown 3rd  v  Wicklow Town 2nd - AWAY - Sun 1st  @ 2pm

  • Monkstown 4th  v Greystones 3rd  -  AWAY - Sun 1st  @ 2pm

The Mens & Ladies 1st teams have a bye to the quarter finals - so no match til Sun 8th.
The Blue & Gold league starts this Friday the 28th. We've 2 teams entered captained by Arlene & Terri...Good luck & have fun on your Friday Nights!
The Easter Cup teams are progressing nicely with Joe Byrne's team having 2 matches left to play while Gus Legge's team has 3 matches...these guys are mustard keen so the best of luck for your remaining matches!

Well you guys who play in Men’s Morning will breath a sigh of relief this Sunday as you have the club to yourself!  Many thanks for your understanding during the Winter League.

CLUB NIGHT:  Club Night tonight will be hosted by our V. President Mary Meagher!...many thanks Mary...beautiful crisp day so do pop down and join in the fun.

The Ladies Charity league continues with mixed results this week..although any team that lost picked up a point ...so that could prove vital....next Monday there are 2 matches @ 10am - also on Tuesday (2 x 10am).

JUNIORS: Our U/12 Stars and Stripes team have reached the Semi Final of the Cup. Monkstown will host the Semi final on Saturday @ 5.30pm. Very best of luck to the boys and girls. Many thanks to Lisa Blake for organising the kids.

The Leinster League starts this Sunday. We have 1 Boys & 1 Girls U/18 team entered along with  2 U/12 mixed teams.  The U/18 Boys play their first match here on Sun next @ 5.30pm

Gosh I'm "Leagued" out of it!!

The Green Sub Committee -  consisting of Carmel (Mc Allister) Angela (Corkery) and Barbara (Liston) - would like to thank members for supporting their "Reduce,  Re-use, Recycle" efforts. They are looking to improve on their efforts and an update about this will be posted on the website in the near future. Please keep an eye out for it and in the meantime, think before putting items in the bins.
