Hi Folks!
No doubt you all got your Spring Newsletter the other day. It was a great update of all that has been going on over the couple of months we were closed. Many thanks to Eric (Cooney) for an excellent production.
Well we're nearly there!...there is such a buzz about the place today...the function room floor getting it's final coat of varnish...looks super ..very tempting for a good old jive to Buddy Holly!! The guys on the scaffolding finalising the new Floodlights...and Trish putting the finishing touches on the pot plants... complete with blue skies!
JUNIORS: With the coaching term due to commence on Monday also, the coaches are raring to go and welcome all you budding Federers and Williams' back on court!!
Would parents please make sure they download the COVID Screening form here https;//www.monkstownltc.com/junior-tennis and here https;//www.monkstownltc.com/coaching Just scroll halfway down the page to find it. The completed form must be given to me on arrival for the first coaching session. Thanks so much to Helen (Lane) for producing all the necessary links and the efficient way she updates the Website and Instagram. Well done Helen!

Anne Crossan has done a great job setting up the Easy Payments system of Booking/Payment and has been beavering away in the background to manage it smoothly. Thanks to all of you for adjusting to it so quickly.
An exciting addition for the Junior membership is the introduction of a Girls' / Boys Captain. Congratulations to Lucy Schwer and Theo Claffey who will be the first to hold the office... very best of luck to you both!
To see the booking sheet fill up is brilliant...we would just remind you to sanitize your hands on arrival and when your game is over...also to leave the club promptly. At this stage we're all well aware of what we have to do to keep safe... we're so lucky to have tennis back as one of the first sports to have restrictions lifted.... so let's all be careful and look out for each other.
There are a couple of slots available for individual lessons with Stephen weekdays 11am - 1pm Contact Stephen (086 8391472) to arrange.
Floodlight cards will only be needed for the 8 - 9 - 10pm slots. We would ask you to nominate one player from your game to enter the clubhouse and insert the card. As always the cards are available from Hewett's in Monkstown Village and from me in the office.
Two of our former younger members (soon to return I hope!) Alan O'Mahony and Brian Cullen, featured in the print media this week. Alan, who now lives in Dubai, wrote a fascinating article on the future of aviation in the Middle East in last Sunday's Independent. Then while reading yesterday's Irish Times I noticed a brilliant letter to the editor re the so called new Soccer league by a Brian Cullen from Brussels...and lo and behold it was our own Brian who now lives in Brussels. Very well written articles lads..Two great guys both on and off the court!
If you have any queries re anything to do with the COVID guidelines, feel free to contact our COVID Officer Siobhan Coburn.
To end on a really exciting note...Michael (Sheil) and Grace (Owens) have become Grandparents to an adorable baby boy...Paddy!....Paddy is the first boy born into the family since 1960!...as Grace said to me in her text "We're beyond thrilled!" Congrats to their daughter and former member Fiona and her partner Andrew...I can only imagine how baby Paddy will be spoiled by his Mum - Dad - Granny - Grandad & Great Granny!!
That's it for this week...see you in FOUR DAYS!! Can't wait!
Warm regards
Judy
