This weekend Team 1 will host Castleknock at home, Team 2 will travel to LCC, and Team 3 will take on Fitzwilliam - best of luck to all three teams. Go MLTC!

UPDATE FROM STEPHEN
Congratulations to our 2024 Club Champions!
Mens' Champion: Fergus O'Rourke
Ladies Champion: Lisa O'Shea
Very unlucky for George Mc Gill, who was unable to compete in the Men's Final because of an injury he picked up in his semi final.
The standard of tennis throughout the championships was of the highest order & great to see so many of our Juniors showing their skills.
And a special shout out to Mary O’Callaghan who won a hat trick of titles – Ladies U21 Singles, Ladies Doubles with Lucy Byrne, Mixed Doubles with yours truly!
Again a big 'Thank You' to Declan & Jacqui for their total commitment throughout the 2 weeks - ably assisted by Anne - and to Ger & her helpers who ran the Cafe so efficiently.
Huge congratulations to our own Conor Gannon on his selection to play for Ireland in the upcoming Davis Cup match v Tunisia on the 13th / 14th Sept.
Anyone who was lucky enough to see Conor play in the recent Irish Open in Carrickmines & register a superb win over the No 1 seed from Poland, will appreciate the true talent of the guy.
Conor Niland, who has been a hugely successful Capt of the Davis Cup team, will again Captain the team...also a VERY successful author!!
To quote from Capt. Conor "As a team we are very excited to compete for another shot at The World Group 1 playoffs. We will have a good blend of younger players & experienced ones in Tunisia, and as always, we will do everything we can to get a win for Ireland."
The tie will take place in the Tennis Club de L'avenir Sportif de la Marsa - Tunis on the 13th / 14th Sept.
Very best of luck to our 2 Conors..... MLTC are super proud of you both.
Looking forward to the new term next week...hope you've signed up to one (or 2!) of the many options on offer. Adult sign up will open this week.
All the best Stephen
SIGN OFF FROM THE MLTC CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS
Since the last championship newsflash, we have enjoyed Friday Finals and Saturday Finals Day.
What a super last few days of tennis and socialising to celebrate the end of our club championships. A fantastic 2 weeks!
As many of you know we set up a pop up Aperol Spritz bar for Friday Finals
What more could you wish for? The weather was perfect as was the tennis and how lovely to enjoy an Aperol Spritz on a sunny evening and you certainly did .. .....so much so that our specialist bartenders ran out of stock ..not once but twice!! Emergency trips were made to O'Briens to restock and just when we thought you couldn't drink anymore Aperol Spritz .....you could.... we had no choice but to close the pop up bar as O'Briens had closed
Saturday Finals was another great day in the club with big crowds supporting the matches from 11 am.
Once again no need for the Child of Prague the weather was fantastic and we hope you enjoyed tea and scones courtesy of the championships.
Congratulations to all our winners. You were a joy to watch.
Thank you to the many members who made the effort to come to the prize giving dinner and party in the Royal Marine to celebrate the end of the club championships.
As the song goes ....Oh what a night .... The Bee Gees tribute band was such fun, endless energy, and a packed dance floor with some interesting dance moves
It was really nice to see so many younger members not only at the prize giving but also coming back later to join in with all the moves the band had us 'performing' on the dance floor. Such fun
On behalf of Declan and myself we would like to thank you for the many public and private messages we have received saying how much you enjoyed the championships. It is very nice to hear ...thank you!
As captains, our plan for the championships in addition to tennis was to focus on social themed events to create a positive and busy vibe and to 'give back' to players and supporters as well as encouraging our younger members not only to play but to feel this is a fun club to hang out in during the championships.
You may be interested to know that from the income we received from both entries and the Summer Cafe we invested it back into the championships through complimentary free drinks on the first night, Pizza Friday, Super Sunday coffee & pastries , Friday Finals with Aperol Spritz, tea and scones on finals day and lastly contributing to the prize giving dinner & party night
Thank you for making the championship so special for myself and Declan.
We are now in a recovery clinic but will be back soon with more events.
