CLUBHOUSE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

Club house development team update

For anyone unable to attend the last week’s AGM, a summary of this team’s progress

(1) A building survey report was completed where issues of the clubhouse and surrounding buildings were identified

(2) The urgent issues are being addressed as a priority

(3) As a next step, planning will start on the other repair items as soon as the urgent ones are addressed.

Club house refurbishment

At the AGM it was suggested to consider low-cost aesthetic and general upgrade while addressing the structural issues, which makes a lot of sense.  Your input and ideas would be greatly appreciated, any suggestions feel free to email Carol at  mltcsecretary@gmail.com or drop any suggestion into our new ‘Suggestions Box’ located on the wall opposite the office.

LOST PROPERTY

From the feedback we received at the AGM relating to the lost property location, lost property has been moved to the ladies changing room.  We now have full view of the fantastic grounds and new shrubs, thanks to our gardening committee. For any of our male members who would need to check the lost property, feel free to contact Carol at mltcsecretary@gmail.com and she will kindly facilitate this.

We want to thank everyone who came to support the team, it was very much appreciated.

MEN’S WINTER LEAGUE

Congratulations to our men’s 2nd team on a fantastic win against Terenure CYM in their class 3 play-off last Sunday. Gary Kelly and Rob Kennedy played really well to secure the first point for the team.  Peter O’Leary and Hugo Faughnan lost narrowly in the second match. Harry Crossan and Denis Feighery turned their match around after losing the first set, saving match point and going on to win 7-5 in the third. Well played everyone !

Both teams play away in the quarterfinals on Sunday 9th March at 11am:

·        1st team are away to Greystones

·        2nd team play away to Malahide – a win would secure promotion !

Be great to get some travelling support to both matches !

SAFEGUARDING TRAINING FOR CLUB OFFICERS

Coaches, Junior and Exec Committee members attended training in the clubhouse on Tuesday evening.  The training was delivered by the Tennis Ireland Safeguarding person, Roger Geraghty and the TI Development Officer, Darko Palavra.  It consisted of a presentation of the key responsibilities and principles for good practice in relation to safeguarding and in particular, taking time to think about how we do each of these in MLTC.
