LADIES SPRING BOX CHALLENGES
Spring box: Great games have been played so far. While the boxes have until May 1st to complete their games, it’s may be better not to leave it last minute to organise them.

BLUE & GOLD - Mixed Event
Blue and Gold: 3 rounds have been played so far and very enjoyable tennis by all. Monkstown have been asked to host the final and runner-up games. This has been scheduled for April 4th. No match this weekend due to St Patrick’s Bank Holiday.
MEN’S WINTER LEAGUE
Congratulations to our men’s 1st team on a fantastic win away to Greystones 1 in their class 2 play-off quarter final last Sunday. The first match had three former Davis Cup players playing with MLTC’s Scott Barron and George McGill digging deep in a top quality match to win a second set tie break and close out the match 6-2 in the third ! With Stephen O’Shea and Scott Barron (jnr) fighting hard but coming up against touch opponents, the pressure was on Johnny O’Shea and Michael McMahon to hold their nerve and deliver the winning point in another tight three set match. Next game is a home semi-final to Malahide on 23 March at 11am. Well done guys keeping the MLTC flag flying in the competition !
Our second team lost away to a very strong Malahide team – well done to Harry Crossan (captain), Ciaran Dolan, Denis Feighery, Gary Kelly, David Keane, Rob Kennedy, Peter O’Leary and Hugo Faughnan on a great campaign winning their group and playing some superb tennis.
Any questions - contract men's captain Dermot Hayes
MEN’S Easter Cup
Our men's Easter Cup team lost 2-1 to Meadowvale in three three setters!
No game this weekend with the final group game on Sat 29th.

MLTC U12s WIN THE STARS & STRIPES
There were scenes of jubilation at Glenageary Lawn Tennis Club on Saturday night when the Monkstown U12 team won the Spring 2025 Stars & Stripes cup final. After a steady run through the earlier rounds, Monkstown defeated a strong Sandycove team to win the cup for the first time since Autumn 2019. On the night itself in Glenageary (and throughout the competition), players were supported by their parents, coaches Karen McKenna and Mickey Mac and team managers Jana Langford and Sinéad Egan. Warmest congratulations to all the players involved in the 5 week long campaign who represented our club with great tennis and great sportsmanship - you did us all proud!
STEPHEN’S UPDATE
We were all beaming with pride on Sunday, like the rest of the country, when we watched Sarah Healy claim an amazing Gold Medal at the European Indoor Championships in Holland.
When I coached Sarah on the courts of Monkstown LTC in her early tennis days, it was clear that she had that little bit extra - that champion's instinct.
We wish her every success in the World Indoors in China later this month
(March 21st - 23rd) and we look forward to giving her a hero's welcome when she is next in the club.
Congrats to our Mens' 1st team who had a great win over Greystones 1st in the 1/4 Final of the Winter League last Sunday. They now play Malahide 2nd's on Sunday week - 23rd March - at home @ 11am.
Tough luck to our Mens' 2nd team who were narrowly pipped by Malahide 4th's in their 1/4 Final.
Also a big Congrats to our U/12 Stars & Stripes Team who won their Final against Sandycove last Saturday. I see them wearing their Winners' medals with great pride!
Still plenty of action in the Ladies Charity League - Blue & Gold - Easter Cup and Junior Leagues....keep the Monkstown flag flying!
"Lá fhéile Pádraig sona dhaoibh!" Stephen
