Snippets 24/06/21

Hi Folks!

This will be a Snippet full of reminders for the Summer programme!

But first of all the big news of the week is our own Sarah McAuley being selected for the Ireland hockey team to play at the Olympics in Tokyo!  At only 19 she is the youngest member of the squad...what an honour.  An amazing achievement Sarah.  Huge Congratulations on becoming an Olympian and we're all so proud of you here in the tennis club.  Alan, Andrea, Ben and Rachel you must all be bursting with pride and anticipation!

The 5 week adult training groups finish up this week. They've been well attended and enjoyed by all.  Eoin and Karen hope to organise them again in the Autumn. Meanwhile in consultation with Stephen, it's been decided to offer the following groups for the next 4 weeks....

Early Risers -  Ladies & Men (all standards welcome) Mon / Wed / Fri @ 8am (starting week 28th June).  Sign up available through the website on Easy Payments from 6pm this evening (24th June).

PAT CASH...  Stephen is hoping to line up Pat Cash for a Zoom questions & answers session during the second week of Wimbledon. It should prove a very entertaining session for members.  He has suggested that members think about what questions they'd like to ask Pat, which could then be sent to him in advance.  You can email them through to the office...deadline Thursday next 1st July.

Green Fees:  Members may now bring a Guest through the Summer months between the hours of 8am - 11am...1pm - 2pm  weekdays.and Fri / Sat / Sun evening after 6pm. Green Fees (€5) can be paid via Easy Payments.

The first Summer Camp of the season starts next Monday 28th June.  Please make sure you have submitted a COVID form before arrival.  Also make sure you bring a Snack / Drink with you each day.  Let's hope you'll all have fun!

A few reminders from  Adrienne re Supervised Tennis...If you've booked your child in and find you have to cancel, please cancel with Adrienne ASAP as there is quite a demand for places.

Please have your COVID form filled out each week before your child comes to the club.

Re the 4pm - 5pm slot for Teenagers the following are the days for specific ages....

MONDAYS  -          13 / 14 year olds.

TUESDAYS -          15 / 16 year olds.

WEDNESDAYS-      17 / 18 year olds

All of the above will be a Pizza Tournament.

THURSDAYS- Cardio session for all teenagers who are interested.

I hope all of the Snippet makes sense....I'm just a bit emotional having just returned from the funeral of our dear Family Life Member Greg Curry.  We walked behind the hearse to the Church in Monkstown and it was very touching to see many Ladies from MLTC (supporting Nicola) along the way.  It was a beautiful ceremony, conducted by our own Eric Cooney. Greg was a larger than life character and played tennis for many years in Monkstown...until the Golf took over! Our deepest sympathy to Angela, Nicola, Patrick and Gregory on your huge loss. It'll be up to you Nicola to keep the Curry flag flying in the club now.along with his doty grandchildren. May Greg's gentle soul Rest in Peace.

It is with great sadness that I tell you of another loss of a treasured member of the club...the lovely Catherine Fitzpatrick.  She was an absolute Lady - always smiling and interested in everyone else.. despite suffering a nasty illness. Our deepest sympathy to Joe and Joanna on your huge loss...you were both so amazing to her throughout her illness...we'll all miss her so much....she was special.  May her gentle soul Rest in Peace.

It was exciting the other day to get an email all the way from New Zealand...would you believe from our own Declan Cotter, Isabella and their little men Liam & Aidan!  They were delighted to hear about all the progress in the club...they're due home in August...just in time for the Championships!!  What a fantastic trip for you all.

Wimbledon on the horizon next week...better not say too much!!

That's it for this week...anyone off on holiers - Enjoy - you deserve the break!

   Warm  regards
